Sementara, penghargaan Best K-pop jatuh kepada sesama anggota Blackpink, Lisa, yang meraih penghargaan tersebut untuk tahun kedua berturut-turut lewat Born Again, kolaborasinya dengan Doja Cat dan Raye. Kategori ini didominasi oleh Blackpink, dengan keempat anggotanya mendapatkan nominasi, bersama Whiplash dari aespa, Who dari Jimin BTS, dan Chk Chk Boom dari Stray Kids.
Kemudian juga ada, bintang pop Lady Gaga mendominasi upacara tahun ini. Dia membawa pulang total empat penghargaan termasuk piala utama seperti artis tahun ini dan berkolaborasi terbaik dengan Bruno Mars di lagu Die With a Smile.
Di lain pemenang musisi juga turut didapuk Ariana Grande yang membawa pulang tiga penghargaan penting, termasuk video terbaik di tahun ini, best pop dan kategori Best Long From Video "Brighter days ahead".
Selain itu, ada Sabrina Carpenter yang juga memenangkan tiga piala untuk kategori best pop artis, best album (for short n sweet) dan Best Visual Effects (Manchild).
Sensasi pop yang sedang naik daun seperti Tate McRae dan Sombr juga membawa pulang total dua penghargaan, sementara KATSEYE memenangkan VMA pertama mereka untuk penampilan MTV Push mereka membawakan lagu "Touch" awal tahun ini.
Ikon musik seperti Mariah Carey , Busta Rhymes, dan Ricky Martin masing-masing akan membawa pulang penghargaan, dengan Carey dianugerahi gelar bergengsi Video Vanguard.
Acara tahun ini dipandu oleh rapper LL Cool J, dan juga memperkenalkan kategori baru seperti Artis Pop Terbaik dan Video Country Terbaik.
